Our assessment of Century Casino & Hotel Edmonton

A short, numbered judgement. No stars and no score: we explain who should stay here and who should look elsewhere, and we show the evidence for each point.

Section checked against sources on 31 October 2026. Independent guide — not the hotel's website.

1.AThe verdict in one paragraph

Century Casino & Hotel Edmonton is a practical overnight stop inside an entertainment building, not a resort. Its strengths are concrete: free heated underground parking, a light-rail station a short walk away, a showroom and a comedy club under the same roof, and rooms that list the small things people actually use — a microwave, a mini-fridge, a coffee machine, an iron. Its limits are just as concrete: 26 rooms, no pool or gym that we could find, and a location among light industry and arterial roads rather than in a walkable district. If your trip is built around an evening on the property, it fits well. If you want to spend a long weekend exploring central Edmonton on foot, you will spend time on the train.

1.BWho it suits

  1. Concert and comedy audiences. The hotel's own King-room text invites you to unwind “after taking in a Showroom concert or Yuk Yuk's comedy show”. Walking from the show to a bed without a taxi is the main advantage the property sells.
  2. Drivers in winter. The operator states the garage is complimentary and heated. After a late show in January, not scraping a windshield at 1 am counts for a lot.
  3. Racing followers. The off-track betting lounge shows racing from North American and Australian tracks seven days a week, and the same company runs Century Mile, the live track south of the city.
  4. Small groups and families celebrating something. Private party rooms and a 500-seat Showroom make it possible to hold the event and sleep in the same building.
  5. Anyone heading downtown by train. Belvedere station is on the Capital Line, which runs through downtown to the University of Alberta and Century Park.

1.CWho should think twice

  1. Guests who want a pool, a spa or a gym. None is listed on the hotel's pages. The city's Clareview Community Recreation Centre is the nearest full facility; see 7.1.
  2. Travellers with children. The casino and Yuk Yuk's are 18+, and Yuk Yuk's says no minors are allowed on the premises of the club. The hotel pages do not describe any family facilities. Ask our desk before planning a family stay.
  3. People who want a quiet, leafy neighbourhood. Fort Road here is a four-to-six-lane arterial with rail lines behind the building. Belvedere is a residential area, but the hotel's own block is commercial.
  4. Anyone who needs to book many rooms at short notice. Twenty-six rooms run out quickly on a show weekend.
  5. Guests who need firm accessibility details. Yuk Yuk's describes its club as fully wheelchair accessible; the hotel pages we read do not describe accessible room layouts. We say how to ask in 12.2.

1.EWhat would change our assessment

We revise a chapter when a source changes, not when a mood changes. Three things would move this verdict: a published refurbishment or expansion of the hotel wing, confirmation of any leisure facility for hotel guests, or a change to the free garage. If you see one of these on the official site before we do, write to hello@fortroadhotelguide.com and we will re-check.

For comparison, Century Casinos itself describes the property as “one of two casinos in the city of Edmonton with a hotel and showrooms” and the only one in its market with a complimentary heated parking garage. That is the operator's own claim in a regulatory filing; we repeat it as a claim, not as our finding.

Our assessment is independent. Rates, availability and house rules are set by the hotel.Official site: cnty.com/edmonton ↗
