12.2.1What is published about the hotel

1. Yuk Yuk's. The comedy club describes itself as fully wheelchair accessible.
2. Google Maps. The hotel's card shows a wheelchair symbol. Google does not say on the card which features it refers to.
3. Parking. The underground garage is described as free and heated. The hotel pages do not describe accessible parking stalls or the route from the garage to the hotel desk.
4. Rooms. None of the three room pages describes an accessible room, a roll-in shower or grab bars.

12.2.2How to ask before you book

1. Use the “Notes for the desk” box in the request form and describe what you need — for example, step-free access from the garage, a bathroom with grab bars, a lower bed.
2. We put the questions to the hotel or the booking partner and reply in writing.
3. We do not confirm a request until the answers are in, so you are never committed to a room that does not work for you.

12.2.3How this site is built

1. Structure. One main heading per page, numbered section headings, lists and tables marked up as such.
2. Keyboard. Every link and form field can be reached with the keyboard; a “skip to the handbook text” link comes first.
3. Forms. Every field has a visible label. Dates are typed as YYYY-MM-DD, so they do not depend on a browser's date picker.
4. Images. Each illustration has a text description and a caption.
5. Contrast and size. Text is dark on light; the layout reflows on narrow screens without sideways scrolling.
6. Maps. Each map has a text address and a link to Google Maps beside it.
