§ 10.3

The racing year, seen from Fort Road

Written 1 November 2026. Based on the hotel's off-track betting page, Century Casinos' 10-K, Discover Leduc Region and Standardbred Canada.

Section checked against sources on 31 October 2026. Independent guide — not the hotel's website.

10.3.1Two calendars in one building

A guest on Fort Road lives with two racing calendars at once. The first is the simulcast calendar of the off-track lounge in the hotel building, which the hotel describes as covering tracks across North America and Australia seven days a week. The second is the live calendar of Century Mile, the operator's track about 38 km south. The first never stops; the second changes with the seasons.

10.3.2Month by month

October – DecemberSimulcasts dailyHarness racing in fall and winter

We have not filled in individual race days for spring and autumn because the sources we read give the total allocation, not each date. The track publishes its own calendar.

10.3.3Three ways to build a stay around racing

  1. The winter afternoon. A Saturday harness card with a 12:45 pm first post, a drive back north and a comedy show in the evening. Two venues, one night's stay.
  2. The summer opening. Opening day of the flat season falls inside the May–August period that the operator calls the busiest for its parlours. Request early.
  3. The screen-only weekend. No drive at all: simulcasts in the lounge, dinner at the Grill, a bed upstairs.
